Meet the Owners Adam and John

Adam Schmidt:

Adam grew up in Springfield, Minnesota until he finished high-school. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Mankato, Minnesota to attend MSU where he earned a degree in business management. He began his construction career in 2002, working for a local general contractor, he gained invaluable experience in residential construction, industrial construction, apartment maintenance, and commercial remodeling. As time went on, Adam continued to work in the construction industry working with several different contractors to master a number of valuable trade skills such as installing windows, doors, cabinets, drywall, siding, roofing, gutters, etc.

In 2007 he decided to take all of these skills and form Schmidt Property Services. In combination with his skills and honest work, he was able to secure several residential customers as well as lifelong customers in some of the largest real estate and property maintenance companies in Mankato. On top of securing several loyal customers, he is also an avid website designer, and is responsible for designing and maintaining online content that is integral to the Mankato community and is growing nation wide.

By 2013, Adam had more work than he could handle and decided he needed to move away from the broad spectrum of construction services he once offered and into more specialized trades. This allowed him to focus completely on roofing and gutters in Mankato. As a result, Schmidt Seamless Gutters, our sister company was formed.

Adam has always taken pride in the work he’s done. He takes his time every step along the way, from working with customers to finishing the project, no detail is ever missed. He has never been interested in doing work he couldn’t be proud of. These same principles can be found throughout the company, from the hiring process to relationships with customers. John Peterson:

John grew up in Plainview, Minnesota, where he attended High School. Shortly after graduating high-school he moved to Mankato, Minnesota. After the move, John sought out work through various companies and by chance saw that Schmidt Brothers Roofing was hiring for a laborer. He had always wanted to learn various skills in the construction industry and this was his chance. Adam taught him several valuable skills such as roofing, siding, windows, drywall, painting, etc.

John spent the next year working for Schmidt Brothers, before he decided to branch off into residential and commercial framing. However, he still maintained part time work with Adam. While working for other contractors, John learned a tremendous amount about both residential and commercial construction. After several years of hard work, John moved into a Sales and Project Manager position for a local contractor, where he learned the best ways to achieve customer satisfaction. During this time he found a knack for working with customers, and decided to attend college in Mankato to pursue a degree in Business Management. As time went by John got better and better at working with customers, and his knowledge of the industry grew exponentially. Paired with values and experience, John was offered a position to partner into Schmidt Brothers Roofing, LLC.

John takes customer satisfaction very seriously and commits to making every experience with a client a memorable one. From the initial inquiry until the job is done, you can be assured John won’t rest until you’re satisfied.

Greg Thuente:

Greg grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He went to college at Minnesota State University, Mankato. 

Meet our Sales and Project Management Team

Koster Buss:

Koster grew up in rural Northwest Iowa where he attended school and played sports. At the age of nine, Koster began working for his dad’s construction company. Instantly, Koster realized he had a love for everything about construction. The work, the tools and equipment, and the problem-solving all coincided with his hardworking and “can-do” personality. After high school, Koster went to Iowa State University where he graduated with two degrees. Naturally, after college, Koster sought out work in the industry he loved and had over 10 years’ experience in, construction.

Koster met John through a friend of his fiancé. John decided that Koster would be an excellent fit for the Sales and Project Management position that Schmidt Brothers Roofing was hiring for. Koster jumped on the opportunity and began working with Schmidt Brothers. To this day, Koster continues to uphold the quality, efficiency and reputation that Schmidt Brothers Roofing requires of its contractors.
